Chocolate Chips are a baking necessity.  Here are my favorite dairy-free, nut-free semi-sweet chocolate chip brands and where to find them.

Nestle Toll House Simply Delicious Semi-Sweet Morsels

Meet the new Nestle Toll House Simply Delicious Semi-Sweet Morsels.  These little beauties are available at your local grocery store along side the rest of the chocolate chips in the baking aisle.  They taste just as good as any other semi-sweet chocolate chips.  They came out this year in May of 2018, and are made with only 3 ingredients: chocolate, cocoa butter, and pure cane sugar.  They are also available in dark chocolate.  The best thing about them is that you don’t have to hunt them down in a special aisle or health-food store, and because of that, these are my new go-to chocolate chips.  They are slightly more expensive.  Currently a 10 oz bag runs about $4.50 at Walmart compared to $2.50 for the normal 12 oz bag of Toll House semi-sweet morsels, but this price is likely still less than you would pay for other brands at a health food store.

Enjoy Life Mini Chips

These Enjoy Life Mini Chips have been our go-to for years until Nestle came along.  Sometimes you will find these in the Gluten-Free or specialty food aisle of your local grocery store.  If your local grocer doesn’t carry them, you can find them at most health food stores or online health food stores like Vitacost.com.  Enjoy Life is a trusted brand by those with food allergies since all of their products are free of the top 8 allergens.  These semi-sweet chips only come in the mini size.  Larger Enjoy Life Chocolate Chunks can be found in dark chocolate, and “Mega Chunks” can be found in semi-sweet.  I generally prefer the regular size semi-sweet chips when I am baking, but these are still a great option for chocolate chips.  They are also slightly less expensive than Nestle at about $4 per 10 oz bag at Walmart.

Chocolate Dream Semi-Sweet Baking Chips

These chocolate chips are delicious but not as easy to find and slightly more expensive.  They also have dark chocolate chips in this brand.  I have only seen them in health food stores and online stores like Vitacost.com and they usually range between $5-$6 for a 10 oz bag.  Until Nestle came along with their chocolate chips that are available in nearly every grocery store, these were my go-to when I wanted a standard size chocolate chip.

Pascha Dark Chocolate Chips – Semi-Sweet

This brand is available in your local or online health food store.  Many people in the food allergy community know and trust the Pascha brand.  They have several varieties including bitter-sweet, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and rice milk chocolate baking chips.
