Irish Beef Stew

On St. Patrick’s Day I used to make Corned Beef and Cabbage because that is what you are supposed to do on St. Patrick’s Day. It is typically an allergy friendly meal, which is nice, but my kids hated it. My oldest would practically gag on the cabbage and meat as he was eating it. I figured it wasn’t worth torturing my children in the name of St. Patrick’s Day so I started looking for other recipe options.
I found this Irish Beef Stew recipe in a Favorite Family Recipes cookbook I own and since it was DEN Free, I gave it a try. It was a big hit! I have been making it on St. Patrick’s Day for the last several years because everyone in my family loves it. In fact, I don’t even save it exclusively for St. Patrick’s Day because this beef stew is worth eating anytime you need a hearty meal.
I also love that this is a Slow Cooker Meal so you can prepare it earlier in the day and then forget about it until it is time to eat. I am a huge fan of Slow Cooker recipes and this is a great one to add to your recipe box. On Favorite Family Recipes they also refer to this recipe as Crock Pot Beef Stew.
